How Our New Collection Gained Spiritual Depth
Our journey with virblatt began with the question: Where does our clothing actually come from—and how can we give it meaning again?
It was a matter close to our hearts to get to know the people who turn our idea of alternative clothing into something wearable. In our “Who makes your clothing” section, we introduce our partners in Thailand and Nepal. This allowed us to learn a great deal about the people and cultures and to combine Asian traditions with our modern yet alternative clothing.
One journey that will remain unforgettable for us is our #hempjourney. We pursued the question of where our clothing actually comes from even further. We traveled to remote mountain regions in northern Thailand, met families who have worked with hemp for generations, and learned what clothing can be when it is created in connection—with nature, with people, with tradition.
This attitude continues to shape our alternative clothing today. Together with artist friends and long-standing partners in Nepal and Thailand, we have created designs that are worn—and have an impact.
T-Shirts as Spiritual Clothing
While creating our new collection, we had to admit something to ourselves: When it comes to T-shirts, there are others who have already gained extensive experience in high-quality, certified production. And we do not want to reinvent everything—but rather build on good structures when they align with our values.
That is why we are working with Stanley/Stella for this collection. The Belgian brand stands for fair production, the highest organic quality, and sustainable responsibility—certified according to GOTS, PETA, and OEKO-TEX. This allows us to focus on what defines us: meaning and design.
Art with Purpose: Our Designs
Our prints are more than eye-catching graphics—they tell stories. An important part of this is Emily from Ink & Earth. She is not only a long-standing friend, but also an incredibly sensitive artist. Her dotwork art is inspired by nature, spirituality, and quiet depth. Several of our T-shirts bear her signature—quite literally.
Our time in Thailand was just as influential, where we discovered the world of Sak Yants during our journey. These traditional Buddhist protective symbols are omnipresent in Thailand—on skin, on walls, in texts—and in the hearts of many people.
A Thai artist and friend worked with us to reinterpret these symbols and turn them into prints for our spiritual clothing: Gao Yord, Ha Taew, and Paed Tidt —three powerful yantras symbolizing protection, clarity, and balance.
For us, one thing was clear: If we make clothing, we do not want to simply “wear” something—we want to carry something forward: meaning, purpose, and connection.
Spiritual Clothing, Connection in Practice
Our new collection is another step on our journey. A journey shaped from the very beginning by curiosity, collaboration, and respect—for the people we work with and for those who wear our clothing.
