Our journey with virblatt began around 13 years ago. Founded with the goal of creating alternative clothing that combines modern cuts with traditional influences, the beginnings of our fashion brand were closely connected to harem pants. Back then, we bought our first pairs at markets in Asia—for ourselves, inspired by the carefree lifestyle these garments conveyed.
But we soon realized that, especially in high temperatures, the large amount of fabric extending to the ankles in classic harem pants was not always the best choice. In the tropical heat, they felt more like a closed tent that stored the warmth instead of releasing it. And so our idea was born: Why not develop a shorter version?
The birth of our short harem pants
With this question in mind, we began creating our own designs. Our short harem pants were meant to combine everything we loved about the classic cut: freedom of movement, comfort, and a certain way of life. At the same time, we wanted to make them airier, lighter, and more suitable for summer.
As so often, the first models were created together with our partners in northern Thailand and Nepal. Inspired by traditional weaving and fabrics that have stood the test of time for centuries, we combined various materials such as cotton and hemp with modern colors and practical details.
